A poster is successful when a clear message is conveyed to the reader, it really need to the clear objectives, it must approach the readers, and the results and conclusion of the main thing itself. A poster must not have to much text as the readers will get boring. It must be easy to be read and the message is clear and easily understood. It must has a clear structure and must have a lot of information but then try to make it very easy to understand and cut to the chase.
