End of Field Trip Reflection
End of Field Trip Reflection
From the Medan Field Trip I have learned a lot of things and one of them is my reflection skills. Through the fieldtrip we visited a lot of places, and each of us had to do three things. Ask, reflect and write it, these three things was mostly used when we arrived to the places we went. Everytime we asked the person who is talking, or not we asked one of our friends. Then we recieve the information from them and reflect it. Sometimes I understand what they said, and sometimes I just had to ask another question in order for me to understand more about it. This helps me, because it improves my reflection skills by reflecting back what I just learned. Also every night during the trip, our guide will ask us to write a reflection of what we did each day during night devotion and it helped me.
Jakarta and Medan was mostly the opposite. Three things were that Jakarta had tall buildings and sky scraper, while Medan had none of them. I usually eat a lot of spicy food, sour, sweet and salty, but when I was in Medan it was totally different. The food was just to spicy, it was unusual for me, but in the end I adapted with it and I enjoyed it. We usually had beggars on the road, but during our boat trip to Samosir island, we saw naked beggars in the water swimming for money.
The best way for me to sustain was just going with the flow. If I have difficulty on the food, my surroundings and problems, I just go with the flow. If the food is spicy, I would just go with the flow and eat what is already provided. If we entered scary and unusual rooms, I would just go with the flow and just go directly asleep. The key to new environment such as Medan is just to go with the flow and just go with what you have.
At home, I was not an independent person, cause I always ask my maid to take my stuff. But through the field trip I have learned to be a more independent person. Cause during the trip to Medan, we had to do everything by ourselves and I have accomplished it well since I did not meet any problems when I did the things alone there in Medan.
